Restoration Immersion Weekend (15-17th August, 2025)
A weekend of nature, learning, and collective action
Friday evening - Sunday afternoon, meals included, camping available on site
Join us for a weekend rooted in action , reflection, education and connection. This immersive weekend is for anyone looking to connect deeply with nature, learn practical skills to help restore the natural world, and have fun while building meaningful connections with others. Whether you're new to this work or already have some experience, you'll find space to grow, contribute, and feel part of a shared purpose.
Who is this programme for?
This weekend is suited to people who are completely new to restoration, as well as those with some experience who want to deepen their skills and feel part of a like-minded, purpose-driven community. Come as you are, ready to get your hands in the soil, and spend time immersed in place, purpose, and possibility.
What Will You Learn?
Over the course of the weekend you will take part in guided walks, thought-provoking discussions, and hands-on restoration activities. All our workshops are designed to deepen your connection with nature and build your understanding of Ireland’s native trees and woodlands. During the course of this weekend you will participate in:
Guided Walks: Explore native woodlands and restoration sites with expert guides who will share insights into local ecology, biodiversity, and the challenges facing these landscapes.
Hands-On Learning: Get practical experience in our native tree nursery and on our restoration site, learning how to grow, plant, and care for native trees.
Discussion Workshop: Delve into the history of Ireland’s native woodlands, examine both the difficult truths and the hopeful possibilities, and explore the values at the heart of Hometree’s work and our relationship with nature.
Deep Adaptation Workshop with Matt Smith: Join Hometree CEO Matt Smith for an in-depth session on resilience, regeneration, and responding meaningfully to ecological and climate crises.
Film Screening, Q&A: Watch Dinnseanchas, our powerful short film exploring the spirit of place and landscape, followed by a Q&A.
What will you take away?
This is not just time in nature, this is time with nature - people often tell us they leave our programmes feeling rejuvenated and with a sense of hope. You will leave with an understanding of Ireland's woodlands and landscapes, skills in growing and caring for native trees, nature connection and social connections. Through our programmes people often deeply connect with the mission of Hometree, feel a renewed sense of purpose and make life long friends and social connections.
