Our work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity. What inspired you to work with Hometree?
At Ohh! By Gum, our ethos is deeply rooted in sustainability, respect for the planet, and supporting people and communities. This resonates strongly with Hometree's mission to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, fostering land regeneration and biodiversity.

We believe that just as sustainable fashion can transform the way we view and consume clothing, initiatives like Hometree inspire us to think differently about our relationship with the land. Working with Hometree allows us to contribute to something bigger than ourselves—creating lasting positive change for the environment and future generations.

You will not see some of the trees you are planting reach maturity, what has inspired such a long term vision?
We know we may not see the trees we plant reach full maturity, but that’s the point. It’s about leaving a legacy for the generations to come—a greener, healthier world where biodiversity thrives and communities are enriched. This long-term vision reminds us that our actions today ripple out into the future.

Much like our work at Ohh! By Gum, it’s a commitment to making choices that last—because what we sow now shapes the world our children and grandchildren will inherit.

Have there been any key moments you can share about how you or your organisation decided to support a more abundant and healthier world?
At Ohh! By Gum, our commitment to a healthier and more abundant world has been shaped by pivotal moments, especially in early 2023, when we developed a sustainability strategy inspired by the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. This strategy became our guiding light since, helping us focus our efforts on meaningful impact.

One of the highlights was the success of Re-Wear, our circular fashion initiative. By re-selling 523 items of clothing last summer, we extended their lifecycle, reduced waste, and encouraged a culture of reuse. Proceeds from Re-Wear sales enabled us to donate €1,000 to the Connemara Therapeutic Riding School, a wonderful charity, reflecting our belief that supporting people is as vital as caring for the planet.

Our environmental efforts included continuing our pledge to plant 1,000 native Irish trees in partnership with Hometree. We’re halfway there, and this initiative has deepened our commitment to preserving life on land and below water, leaving a legacy for future generations.

Finally, we reached a major milestone in early summer 2024 by completing and submitting our B Corp assessment. Now in the final stages of verification, this journey represents our dedication to transparency, accountability, and sustainability.

Would you like to share any key lessons life has taught you?
I’ve learned the importance of perseverance and patience. Transforming how we live and do business to prioritise sustainability doesn’t happen overnight—it’s a journey of small, meaningful steps that require dedication and vision.

Life has also taught me the value of community. The most impactful changes happen when people come together, sharing ideas, resources, and support. It reminds me that while individual actions matter, collective effort is what truly drives progress.
