Grove & Co
Details
Our work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity. What inspired you to work with Hometree?
Grove & Co want to partner with a charity that was based in Ireland and had a direct link to the work that we do. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our service see us working with the consumers and manufacturers of paper and wood based products ( furniture & packaging ) . We wanted to contribute to the sustainability of these products at a local level and one that we can directly contribute to. And we also do this by partnering sustainably, sourcing our materials, finishes, and furnishings from suppliers we have long trusted and admired.
You will not see some of the trees you are planting reach maturity, what has inspired such a long term vision?
We understand that we have a responsibility on a long term basis and for the generation that is ahead of us. We want to take action now and view ourselves being in this long game. We want to help and support a wide variety of fundamental projects to address both Ireland’s declining biodiversity and the unfolding climate challenge and ensure it survives for future generations.
Have there been any key moments you can share about how you or your organisation decided to support a more abundant and healthier world?
We review all our suppliers and hold them responsible for their sustainability process. We always try to source locally and what we cannot, we endeavour to work with suppliers that follow our ethos. We have also set up an internal green committee to ensure that this is in place and adhered to within the business. We have also focused very much on what we have control over. What we have learnt so far on this journey is that living sustainably is about just being mindful of our resources and making informed choices when making decisions. We also are aware and mindful that each choice we make, no matter how small, can contribute to a larger, positive impact on our environment.
