Hometree’s purpose is land regeneration, how does this align with your company/organisation?
As a company, we are committed to becoming more sustainable and making a positive impact on the environment. We currently hold the “Silver” accreditation with Green Hospitality Ireland at the Connacht Hotel with plans to achieve Gold status very soon. For the last number of years, we have been focused on sustainable practices and on reducing our carbon footprint.

What is inspiring you to work with a regeneration process like Hometree?
Every year we choose charities & not-for-profit organisations and raise funds for these as a team. The environment has become such a strong focus for us and so we are delighted to be working with Hometree. We are also aiming to reach carbon neutral status and our plan is to not only reduce our energy & water usage and waste production within our businesses but also to offset some of our emissions through planting trees with Hometree.

Some of the trees you are planting you will not see mature, together we are working towards more abundant and biodiverse future, in three or four sentences please describe what you would like to invite into the future?
Although we will not see the trees mature to their full life, we are doing this to protect and preserve our planet for our future generations. We would love to see more of our industry partners working to make Ireland one of the leading sustainable travel destinations.

Do you have a memory that to share about a tree/forests/nature?
I am very fortunate to have grown up in the countryside with a beautiful park beside my home. Some of my earliest memories are of playing in the park and exploring the forests. I believe that being surrounded by nature from a young age has helped to develop the passion I have now for protecting and preserving our planet.

Other than Hometree can you celebrate other ways you or your organisation supports a healthier environment?
We are committed to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of our businesses & to encourage others to follow suit including our suppliers, industry partners & our customers. We are actively involved in supporting our local community and the wider region and will continue to do so.
